PHOTOGRAPHER'S TIPS

FAQs
Q: What should I wear for my portrait session?
A: Please wear comfortable clothing. Keep in mind that solid colors are typically better than busy patterns or prints, which may be distracting and divert the eye away from your face. For Black & White photography, depending on hair and skin color, having both a white (or light) and black (or dark) top available to change into can be helpful. Denim and khaki are also very versatile options and photograph well. When in doubt, bring several options, and the photographer can help you make a decision.
Q: What time of day is best for baby portraits?
A: When preparing for a portrait session for your young one, if you want your baby sleepy and docile, the preferable time for taking his or her picture is shortly after a feeding. For nude photos, babies will be sleepier and more relaxed if it is fairly warm for the photo shoot. This can be achieved with a space heater, near a fireplace, or on a warm day in direct sunlight in front of a window. If you want your baby to be more alert for his or her photographs, select a time of day for the portrait session that accommodates his or her higher energy levels.
Q: What if my child gets sick?
A: If you or your child are ill, please reschedule to allow for a time when everyone will be more comfortable.
Q: What if it rains?
A: Indoor pictures can be accommodated at almost any location using the existing setting, or portable backdrops may be supplied, or you can simply reschedule.
Q: How long until my package will be available?
A: Please allow 10-14 days for delivery of your CD/photographs. With large portrait or wedding packages, it may take a few days longer.
Q: When do I make payment?
A: For portrait sessions, payment is due immediately after your appointment is finished, before your package will be processed. For wedding packages, the cost is split into two payments - the first (half down) reserves your wedding date, and the final payment is due on the date of services.
Q: How long does a typical portrait session take?
A: A portrait session for one person can usually be accomplished within an hour. If multiple outfits or locations are desired, it may last a little longer. The minimum portrait/package price is $200 and includes a 1-hr portrait session as well as editing/processing time. Schedule permitting, the photographer's services may be continued at $50 for each additional 1/2 hour (unless a larger package is first purchased/discussed, which package includes additional portrait time). For family portrait sessions, or portraits for multiple people or at multiple locations, please plan for a minimum of a two-hour portrait session.
Q: What wedding packages are available?
A: Please call for a current price sheet.
Q: What if I want a package different than those listed on your website?
A: Please call to discuss tailoring a package to suit your needs.
